Idaho Dads Matter!™
Idaho Dads Matter ™, a statewide Fatherhood initiative, is one of CCI’s latest efforts to address unmet needs and grow the service capacity of our Family Strengthening Centers in Idaho. Through a grant from the US Dept. of Health and Human Services, CCI and its partners will have resources to serve parents who need and want to be part of nurturing them into healthy and happy adulthood. These services are available for Moms, too!

          • Financial Literacy
          • Employment support

Literacy as a Pathway to Economic Stability (LAPES)

LAPES
Breaking the cycle of poverty through English language proficiency

The ultimate goal of this initiative is to help strengthen and sustain healthy individuals, families and communities in Idaho.

Breaking the cycle of poverty through English language proficiency is a major goal of LAPES and the project funder, the ALSAM Foundation. Many Hispanic households in poverty in Idaho are led by adults with full time employment. However, due to lack of educational opportunities and without functional English proficiency, these families risk remaining at a disadvantage economically, both now and into the next generation. LAPES will help heads of households improve their language capability in order to gain more lucrative employment and to engage themselves more fully in their children’s education.

The LAPES initiative includes:

Plaza Comunitaria
The Mexican Consulate in partnership with the Department of Adult Education at Cerritos College are offering a new program, "Plaza Comunitaria." Plaza Comunitaria is a Spanish literacy program for adults. The goal of Plaza Comunitaria is to help adults transition into ESL courses once they have acquired and/or strengthened their Spanish literacy skills.
