2.6.07: Free Tax Help! CCI is part of the Idaho Coalition for Economic Improvement
Last year, the program prepared tax returns for 1,862 Treasure Valley residents. Residents claimed a total of $907,316 in Earned Income Tax Credit, which increased the total amount refunded to taxpayers to nearly $2 million. Call the Idaho Careline at 2-1-1 for sites and hours. 2.16.07: CCI is offering FREE English Language Learning (ELL) classes at the Hispanic Cultural Center. 01.12.07: Come join us at the Hispanic Cultural Center for O.C.E.A.N. (Organized Cultural Enrichment Activities in Nampa) on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 from 6:30 - 9pm. This month we will be learning about financial aid, scholarships, and goal mapping. Representatives from TVCC, BSU and Job Corps will be on site to provide information. Learn about the possibilities! Eat! Program is free and open to all area students in 9 -12 grade. Please download permission slip and bring a signed copy with you to the event. Call immediately if you need transportation.

01.08.07: CCI is now hiring part-time (.50 FTE) Family Literacy Educators in Nampa, Homedale, Jerome, and Blackfoot. These positions are grant-funded for two years, and will focus on providing English Language Learners with opportunities to improve English skills at all levels from beginning to advanced. A Bachelor's degree in Education or related field is required and ELL teaching experience and bilingual abilities are a plus. Job Description

Child Literacy Program Aide positions are available in Homedale (.75 FTE), Jerome (1.0 FTE), Nampa (.50 FTE), Blackfoot (.75 FTE). Applicants with a background in Early Childhood Education or related field are encouraged to apply, bilingual a plus. These positions are grant funded for two years. Job Description

01.08.07: Faith-Based Foster Care Presentation CCI is collaborating with Idaho Department of Health and Welfare Region 3 to provide information to families interested in learning more about becoming foster families. Foster families, many of whom are called to serve in this capacity by their faith, provide refuge and hope to vulnerable children. CCI and IDHW will facilitate a Faith Based Foster Care Presentation at Our Lady of the Valley in Caldwell on Sunday, January 28th at 10:45 a.m.
